2012 PROGRAMME

Spiritual Accompaniment Course II Starts Today

posted on March 10th, 2010

Twenty participants arrive this afternoon to take part in our second-level course in the practice of spiritual accompaniment — the core skills of spiritual direction, spiritual conversation, and retreat giving.

Those arriving are a particularly diverse bunch coming from up and down the country as well as from Hong Kong, Ghana, and Scandinavia. They embrace a variety of Christian denominations and, though ministers and religious sisters are well-represented, lay people form the largest group.

What will they be doing? For two weeks they will be praying, studying, listening to talks, sharing, and practising the art of contemplative listening (as well as watching the odd film). We hope to help them each grow in the art of discernment of spirits so that they, in turn, can help the people they work with explore their developing relationship with God, deepen their experience of that God, and discover God’s deepest invitations.

It is also fun!
